Coming Up Roses

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow and everything coming up roses, I thought I’d share some of my current natural beauty obsessions with rose as their star ingredient. Besides its intoxicating scent and aphrodisiac qualities, rose has some wonderful health benefits. It’s attributed with helping diminish inflammation, treating wounds as an antiseptic, fighting bacterial infections, protecting against viruses, being a laxitive and more. Rose is also great for toning the skin and fighting wrinkles while keeping it soft and moisturized. Rose is also benefical to the hair and teeth (who knew?!! Wouldn’t a rose toothpaste be lovely?) with its strengthening properties. Here are some of the latest rose releases in the non-toxic beauty world that have me talking and leaving my senses longing to smell more:

  1. MUN No.11 Anarose Rejuvenating Rose Toner, $68 – Hydrates, softens and protects skin with “blossoms hand-harvested from Valley of the Roses, the famed flower region in Bulgaria. Their unique hydrating and soothing powers are steam-distilled into the essential oil that enriches this rose water base.” 100% natural, 92.5% organically derived and vegan, you can’t beat it and it plays nicely with my acne-prone skin!
  2. Kesh Beauty Argan Oil with Rose Essence, $40 – Just a small amount of this Moroccan made, rose infused, 100% organic cold-pressed argan oil is all you need for skin and hair as the scent “instantly transports you to the famed rose gardens of Marrakesh.” It’s one of the best scented rose products that I’ve smelled in a while! I love using it on my body and hair. (Personally, I haven’t found argan oil on its own to mesh that well with my facial skin)
  3. John Masters Organic Rose & Apricot Hair Milk, $26 – For the scent alone, I would repurchase this product. The light and nourishing formula is made with nine certified organic ingredients and protects hair with rose flower oil, apricot oil, rosehip seed oil, borage oil and moringa seed extract. Can we say love?!!
  4. My Daughter Fragrance Always Loved, $85 – With notes of Bulgarian rose oil and Turkish rose absolute, there’s nothing synthetic or toxic about this Canadian made perfume. Every time you spray its loveliness you will always feel loved!

And add to this list budget-friendly items like Dr. Bronner Rose Bar Soap ($4.29) and JASON Rosewater Natural Hand & Body Lotion ($7.19) and I’d swear I was laying in a bed of roses!

What are your favorite rose beauty obsessions?
